This page is to purchase the Bread Boat Set Class and instructions

This class is a collaboration between Needle Quirks and Embroidery Garden.
In this class you will learn to machine sew a handmade, rustic oval shaped “Bread Boat” with optional fabric accents and decorative/contrasting stitching, using 100% cotton clothesline, as well as ideas for simple embellishments.  Bonus instructions are included for a simple quilted bread stone warmer pouch and a mitered bread cloth that can be made any size you choose. The bread boat, warmer pouch and bread cloth are completed using a regular sewing machine.

There are no embroidery designs included. The bread cloth sample shows a leaf design from the Hand-Sketched Floral Borders set and an imported letter. Another bread cloth shows added tatting. The download will include 3 PDFs, one for each project. Also included is the link to the bread warmer stone that Caroline used.

During class the construction of the bread boat and warmer pouch will be shown. If time allows, we will go over bread cloth construction.

Basic supplies needed for this class include the following.

  • 100’ of 3/16” or ¼” 100% Structured Cotton Clothesline
  • Sewing Machine with an adjustable zigzag stitch
  • Size 90/14 Topstitch or Denim Needle
  • Zigzag Presser Foot (If you have a Brother machine, it’s the J Foot)
  • A spool of all-purpose sewing thread to match or coordinate with clothesline
  • Minimum of 2-3 bobbins wound with matching thread (contrasting thread can be used for decorative stitching).
  • A pair of sharp scissors
  • Straight pins
  • Fabric clips
  • Ruler or tape measure
  • Optional: 3/4″ strips of fabric
  • Insul-Brite (or cotton batting) for the bread warmer pouch
